WHERE HURRICANES, TORNADOES, LIGHTNING, BLIZZARDS, AND FLOODS ARE NO MATCH!

Hurricane Jimena would be a difficult chase

Intercept in the Baja of Mexico isn’t for your average chaser.
August 31st, 2009 at 1:38 EDT
I think if I had the resources and wasn’t planning on a trip to South America, I would have possibly attempted a hurricane intercept in the lower Baja of Mexico. Baja is the long thin strip of land (peninsula) [...]

Will I be able to update from Chile

South American trip to Chile might mean an absence from blogging
August 30th, 2009 at 6:46pm EDT
In just a few days I’ll be departing for an 11 day trip to Chile to take in some skiing and other adventures. I have never been to South American before and have no idea what (if any) access [...]

American Sign Language weather terms

Found this excellent site that finally answers something I wanted to know
August 27th, 2009 at 5:30pm EDT
After covering a few NOAA and NWS Press events, I often see a sign language interpreter on the stage, signing the comments and such. I got to thinking, are there specific signs that are used for certain weather [...]

Tropical Storm Danny forms

Unknown if I will be able to chase this tropical storm (Hurricane?).
August 25th, 2009 at 3:52pm EDT
Danny went from 92L to a Tropical Storm directly, skipping the Tropical Depression stage. This was in part due to the winds being high enough, but only was able to get the proper structure before it got it’s [...]

Quick mini (local) chase on tornado warned storm

Was not paying attention, but still got out to see a good storm
August 21st, 2009 at 11:46pm

Above is one of the few shots that I was able to capture in a quick chase. Didn’t original plan to go out, and at first I was only going to stay local, take a snap shot or [...]

Hurricane Bill…any chance of east coast landfall

While I like to reserve some possibility, Hurricane Bill likely no a thread to US coastline.
August 19, 2009 at 11:42pm EDT
While US landfall is not likely with the strong hurricane now only 315 miles northeast from the Leeward Islands and 880 miles south-southeast of Bermuda, the storm is likely to pose some thread of coastal [...]
