90L given red (50% probability) status of tropical cyclone formation

National Hurricane Center has put a high likelihood of 90L getting upgraded to tropical depression status within the next 48 hours. Did we just get punk’d for saying this system was going to reach Tropical Storm status?

Rumor: TD#2 to be officially named at 5pm (TS Ana)

TD#2 to become Tropical Storm Ana at 5pm according to a few reliable sources. Full blog shortly there after, with updates on the tropical wave behind future TS Ana.

99L becomes Tropical Depression #2 for 2009

Still awaiting to see if TD#2 makes tropical storm status to become Ana.

At 6am Atlantic Standard Time (no daylight time in the ocean) the National Hurricane Center upgraded invest 99L up to Tropical Depression status based on visual satellite imagery and other data they were getting early this morning.
