The vehicle is currently "in the
virtual shop" being worked on with new equipment being added.
This
vehicle will be pretty low key over all for chase mode. Due to
certain
situations that have changed in the chasing world, the graphics and
outside equipment will be minimized.
There
is only some base photos that will be added first, as I now I have only
just aquired the vehicle. I've left some photos from the last
chase
vehicle to give an idea of what is in store for this car.
Sample Interior Layout from Dodge
Caravan (previous chase vehicle)

|
-Sirius Satellite Radio (will not be
added)
- Garmin GPS GT-20 USB
- Dual Band ham radio
yet to be purchased
- Dell 5160 Laptop
- Jeniko laptop desk (new one is a Jotto)
- 400 watt DC to AC Power Inverter (now upgrading
to 700 watt.
------------------------------------------------
This was the basic set-up for chasing tornado alley.
While the Dodge Caravan had more room, similar equipment will be
added. The Subaru will have some slightly different items like a
police, fire, rescue etc. scanner.
|
 |
A quick shot of an
extension speaker. This too will be added. However, this
will be integrated this time around.

EXTERIOR
|
 |
 |
 |

This is the previous chase vehicle roof, with
the Yakima rack bar (the straight one) and the VW Beetle light bar
(bent bar) mounted, and the cargo basket behind. The Subaru will
have something similar in the future, but more cleanly designed and
executed.

| INTERIOR |
Below is a set of photos from the first
interior install. It was orignially just to be a simple look see
how hard or easy it is to open the center console. It was quite
easy in fact. So then it was just a matter or looking at how to
run wires, and see what resided underneather. However, with the
ease of installation of the power cable, and the easily removed panels
I went ahead in ran the power cable through and got that task done well
ahead of schedule.
|

Open center console is very easy to open and has lots of space for
future wiring and accesory needs.
|

Power wire is carefully weaved through center console. I left a
loop in for future connector or distribution block needs.
|

I have removed the ashtray upper frame to make room for electronic
equipment, or switches.
|

This photo is of my previous chase vehicle
showing the interior with the various radios and equipment. The
new vehicle will be much cleaner, as the Satellite radio is built in,
and the ham radio is mounted in the dash.

ENGINE
|

|
Already done is the
fuses for the auxilary large gauge power wire that'll be used for
powering the AC inverter, ham radio, and weather station (and a few
other small items). In this shot you can see the fuses mounted to
the aluminum square tube bracket, which is mounted to the factory bolt
that holds the OEM fuse box. Yet to be done in this shot is
actually connecting the wires to the battery.
This was step one on the car after the stupid mistake I made with the
previous vehicle which prematurely met it's demise. This simply
install right here is the one thing that could have prevented the loss
of the previous vehicle.
