This was the third year in a row of visiting the Denver area for the
Storm Chaser's Conference. Once again the presentations were
great. Some have been a little repeatative, but still enjoyable
to see. Then, on Sunday, while some folks participated in the Forecasting class, Chris, Jeff, Kersten, and her son JJ, and myself ventured up into the mountains again. This year we spent two days in the mountains. The first day we drove up, I was having a bad headache when we got to higher elevations. I would later learn this was due to toxin build up in my system because of my Kidney Failure. However the next day I was fine, and we ventured to the Continental Divide, this time to Loveland Pass. This time we did, all the way up to 11,990' at the top of Loveland Pass . Fortunately, this year we took our time with the high altitudes which did a few of us in last year. Because we were not accustom to the disciplines of high altitude we made the decent out of the maintains much slower this year. Going from over 11,000 feet to just a little over 5,000 feet at the hotel, we avoided "altitude sickness". |
