Well, after trekking around the Bethesda, Maryland area, I was quite tired and hungry.  Thankfully the local fast food joint was still open.  It's days like this that fatty, high calorie food is just perfect.

There was mix of snow and ice with this system.  Bethesda streets were a little hard to keep clear.  You can see how the traffic has really compacted this snow down before the plows came through..

December 5th, 2002 Snow Statistics and Information: 

Summary from Sterling, VA (DC region) National Weather Service (NWS):
Low pressure moved from North Carolina to the Delmarva Peninsula between midnight and 3pm on the 5th.   This storm produced accumulating snowfall across the entire region as it moved by.  Across Southern Maryland, freezing rain ans sleet was mixed in with the snow.  The snow and sleet accumulations ranged from 3 to 5 inches in this area.  In Central maryland, including the Washington DC and Baltimore suburbs, snowfall totals ranged from 6 to 8 inches.  Across North Central and Western Maryland, snowfall accumulations of 7 to 9 inches were recorded.  One person died in a car accident in Cumberland that was attributed to the slippery conditions resulting from the snow.
