January 17th, 2008 - Winter Storm
2002 chaser header

This was the first storm that I've had the "Warrior Wagon" out in the snow.  It did fairly well, especially after I got used to some of the driving dynamics  I will say, however, that it does need better tires.  A few steep hills were difficult to ascend.

Many of the roads were not plowed during.  Not even the major routes.  It was nearly at the end of the storm (close to the evening rush hour) that the plows finally got out and made some difference.  I suspect however, that many local roads were not treated until well into the evening.

MD DOT Salt Silo - I-270 and Clarksburg Road (Rt.121)

W. Baltimore Road, heavy snow means plows can't keep up.

W. Baltimore Rd., even heavier snow conditions

Inside Black Hills Regional Park.  I was about the only vehicle within the part.

First snow storm chase/intercept for the Warrior Wagon.  Here, blazing the first trail

Unfortunately, the weather station was not working properly.

Leaving Black Hills Park, roadway very trecherous

Very heavy snowfall at this point, hard to photograph unless against a dark background

Rt. 355 southbournd in Germantown, MD, heavy traffic northbound

To the left, a driver who fails to properly clean vehicle of snow and ice.  Windshield was barely cleared.  Side and rear windows not cleared at all.  Very lazy and dangerous driver.
