WASHINGTON, DC "DURING" THE STORM

The Subaru Legacy GT Wagon (aka The Warrior Wagon) with Mobile Weather Station Platform. Rock Spring Blvd. over I-270, Bethesda, MD.

Interesting snow formations from blowing snow at 17th Street and H St. NW, Washington, DC.

White House
View from 16th Street & H Street NW, Washington, DC

13th St. NW, Washington, DC. looking north toward H St. NW.  The streets were quickly getting loaded up with snow before the plows could return to keep them clear.

Same spot as the last picture (13th St. NW) but 180° opposite view looking south toward G St. NW.

View east-southeast down Pennsylvania Avenue from Freedom Plaza.  Ronald Reagon Building on the right, Old Post Office Pavilian Tower in the distance.  Capitol Building barely visibile in far distance.

Distric of Columbia (DC) and United States flag blowing in brisk windy conditions during the storm. This shot taken from Freedom Plaza.

The Warrior Wagon deep in the snow.

The Warrior Wagon and a newish Subaru Forrester passing by.

Near the Washington Monument: these pedestrians take to their skiis to get around The Mall area of Washington, DC.

These shots (above and left) are taken from Independence Avenue, just south of The Mall in Washington, DC. The Road here was very quiet.

Here is the best shot of the Jefferson Memorial I could get during this storm.  The 'snow emergency' meant there was no parking nearby.

This is a view from Ohio Drive along the Potomac River.  The bridge to the left is the 14th Street Bridge, site of a plane crash during a 1983 snow storm.

West side of the Capitol Building looking east from Pennsylvania Avenue & first Avenue (The Peace Circle and Monument)

A view of one of the many blocked side streets that had 12 to 14 inches of snow on them, with snow still falling.  This is just off 15th NW

This is 15th NW, Washington, DC.  You can see there is very little traffic mostly because the road conditions are so bad at this point.

(Left) A quick shot of my "bistro" spot in the back yard.   Snow anyone?

(Above).  A quick measurement of snow toward the end of the storm.  This is a 'snow depth' measurement which is different than a 'snow fall' measurement which requires clearing of the snow every 6 hours (on a snow board) during a long event, to illiminate compaction issues.
